The presumed incoming update will likely and hopefully replace GFWL with the native Steamworks infrastructure, which should make it work like just about every other game on the platform. There is a community-made patch that aimed to fix the game's installation and functionality, but it still wasn't a good look for Capcom to sell a title that couldn't natively be played. Without GFWL, Street Fighter X Tekken essentially cannot be installed or played properly - although it can still be played online with some work. Games for Windows Live was shuttered by Microsoft in 2014, and servers for titles were shut down as late as 2020. The main problem is Street Fighter X Tekken was one of those poor titles that was tied to Games for Windows Live, which applied to the Steam version too.
